The Angel With The Book

This apocalyptic bit of art has always been a favorite of mine. I love how the angel is portrayed - majestic and monolithic - yet completely incorporeal. That is a fantastic description of the otherworldly God we worship, and part of what makes Him so fantastic. What He requires of us is so benign, but sometimes so difficult to grasp. Faith is an amazing thing.
However - there is much more power to the Lord God Almighty.
Revelation 10:1-3 -
"Then I saw another mighty angel coming down from heaven, surrounded by a cloud, with a rainbow over his head. His face shone like the sun, and his feet were like pillars of fire. And in his hand was a small scroll[a] that had been opened. He stood with his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land. And he gave a great shout like the roar of a lion. And when he shouted, the seven thunders answered."
He is one deserving of worship.
nice blog! really great posts
Nice post!
I prefer "trust" to "faith" - better translation of the original language. Lest I come across as an academic snob, I quickly add, it doesn't matter that much, and I really agree with your statements.
Wow. That painting and your post are very thought-provoking. Sometimes I can forget the majesty of God with our modern/post-modern worship.
What an incredible God we worship!
I pray for a great shaking of our apathy, for a purging of our self reliance, and for our eyes to be truly opened to a Father God who loves His sons and daughters in a way that is truly shocking.
Where do you find these great pictures always. Bless you brother
Indeed, He is worthy. And just looking at how incredible He is demands everything from us. To know, and really know that awesome God of creation, of revelation; man, that would shake my world. There is nothing satisfying in this life but knowing Him.
Desire to know Him more, Drew. You are already so great in Him that He can only increase that. Stay in His heart and in His will, for you are sure to receive many mind-blowing blessings. :)
